The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
Random News And Goings-On
Well, what a week! I tried to cram in as much reading as I could in between other things, but to be honest my brain has been pretty preoccupied with all the coronavirus news. Full updates on reading tomorrow of course, but let’s just say it’s been tough concentrating and I’d hoped to get through more audiobooks.
Speaking of coronavirus–I’ll be working from home most of this week. I do have to go into the office half a day on Thursday but there will only be one other person there and he’ll be in a different part of the building. Stuff is starting to feel…weird and surreal. But also like maybe not enough is being done to stop the spread here in the US despite some things our state has put into place and the national emergency status from the federal government. I don’t know, I guess we’ll see how it goes. I feel like we have to take this day to day now and just monitor how it all plays out but I also feel like it’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
So, anyway. I’ll be staying home most of this week and even though I’ll be busy working during the day I’ll be saving lots of time not having to commute and get ready for work–at least two hours a day–and I plan on utilizing that extra time for reading and getting caught up with my March TBR list. Maybe I’ll even have time to catch up on blog hopping. 😉
I also have a bunch of stuff to do for r/fantasy–the turn in your bingo card thread goes up in the next day and I’m also helping to organize some extra events on the subreddit for authors whose events may have been cancelled due to convid-19. So despite me being all ‘yay, a free weekend where I don’t have plans’….as always I’ve somehow managed to make a lot of work for myself. This is just my nature, I guess.
New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy
Physical Books
I was super excited to win The Bard’s Blade by Brian D. Anderson from Tammy @ Books, Bones, & Buffy from one of her monthly giveaways highlighting books she’s reviewed. Thanks again, Tammy! I picked this book because I’ve heard that it’s got fantastically written characters, it’s fun, and it’s got some twists and turns. Can’t wait to check this one out, hopefully it won’t have to linger in my TBR pile for too long….
Ebooks
No purchases but I my request was approved for an eARC of Dragon Unleashed by Grace Draven on netgalley. I love Grace Draven’s books and really enjoyed the first one of this series. She’s one of my go-to authors for when I want great romance and great fantasy combined. Plus, dragon!!! Anyway, while I’m super excited for this I’m also trying to figure out how to fit it in with the five other books I have for review. I’m going to have to prioritize at some point. Or learn how to read faster.
That’s the news for this week, such as things go. As a lot of places close their doors, I’ll be here blogging. One advantage of the interenet! And if something happens that causes me to be away for a bit, well, I do have a lot of stuff pre-scheduled so this place won’t be empty. Stay safe out there book friends!
I haven’t read anything by Draven but now I have to try it!
I really enjoy her blend of romance and fantasy!
So glad you got your book! Yeah, I’ve actually been having a tough time concentrating on reading because of the coronavirus. I find myself reading a page or two them checking Facebook to see what’s happening. I even put down a book because it was sort of complicated and I wasn’t enjoying it. I hope it all blows over soon, I know everyone just wants to get back to their normal lives😁
Thanks again for it! Yeah, it’s the same way. I can’t seem to keep myself from constantly checking the stats.
It’s started to feel very surreal and strange over here, too. I’m now working from home, which is a challenge in and of itself, being someone who doesn’t really have work that can be done remotely, but I’m figuring it out, and it’s at least interesting! The best thing, though, is that books are eternal, haha, so we’ll all suddenly be online yelling about how we read so many books, and I’m ready for that.
Strangely, I’ve been more busy and found less time to read since I’ve been working from home. Even saving my commute time it seems I’m busy with other things lol. Oh well, will definitely find time for reading this weekend, as you said, books are eternal! Stay safe out there.
Same here! My work has definitely ramped up since I’ve started working from home, which is so interesting. Hope all is well for you despite the business!
Hope all is well for you too!
