This Week in Reading: Getting Ready for March!

Hello and Happy Monday! This past week has been really strange feeling, like it went by really fast and also really slow at the same time. I know that doesn’t make much sense, but that’s how it felt. I meant to spend more time working on reading and blog stuff this past weekend but I ended up going on a bit of an organizing spree with some things in my closet and then it spread to other parts of the house. Also, my husband and I cooked a meat pie for the first time ever, so that was fun. It was also pretty tasty.

Last week I managed to finish four books, phew! I’m doing pretty good with my February TBR pile, let’s see if I can keep it up through this week, I only have 2 and a half more books to finish for it. Definitely crossing my fingers and my toes and hoping things work out somehow. πŸ™‚

I started reading My Soul to Keep by Tananarive Due this weekend. I’m not that far into it, maybe 10%, but I’m enjoying it so far, really loving the prose. This is one of my vampire reads for bingo and I’m glad that bingo brought it to me!

In audio I’m still finishing up Blindsight by Peter Watts. I think this book is firmly not for me. Or maybe I’d like it better in print, I don’t know. I’m still somewhat confused as to what exactly is going on. I can’t figure out of the dual story-lines are the same character in two different timelines or two different characters in different places? The narrator is so monotone and doesn’t really do different voices for the characters so I often lose track of who is speaking too. I just don’t really feel anything for this but ambivalence, although I do think the technology in it is interesting. Welp. I’m going to power through this and hope something spectacular happens at the end of it.

Hopefully I’ll finish up My Soul to Keep by mid week and I’ll be able to fit in The Killing Fog by Jeff Wheeler later in the week. This was sent to me for review and I have to say, the premise sounds pretty intriguing.

I’m really trying to stay on track with my obligated reading, mostly to get it out of the way so that I can start focusing on my TBR Pile of Doom books. I also fell way behind in blog hopping again after catching up some during the week last week and I feel really bad about that, I had a pretty full weekend though. Now that it’s the weekdays again I should be able to get back to checking in with folks. Yay. What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

Sorry Blindsight is not working for you! I’ll look forward to your review of The Killing Fog though. I like Jeff Wheeler and it’s probably a good straightforward cleanser for Blindsight.

The Killing Fog has awesome reviews on Goodreads, I hope you love it too! I still have some February review books to read but kicked them to the curb and decided to start on some March books, ha ha. I have WAY too many March review books, help!😬

Glad to see other people are loving it! Luckily I only get sent a few books for review. I think I’d go crazy if I got more. Even now I’m like ‘how am I supposed to read all of these??? How many books do they think I can read???’ I know I can decline some but still….if the publicist contacts me I always feel obligated lol. Welp. Good luck to us both!

I know what you mean that has happened to me with 2 books lately and it’s so frustrating, especially when they’re not bad books! Good luck!
