Can’t-Wait Wednesday: Network Effect by Martha Wells

Can’t-Wait Wednesday, aka Waiting on Wednesday, is a weekly meme originating from Jill at Breaking the Spine and now hosted by Wishful Endings. If you’re interested in participating, stop by Wishful Endings to link up your posts.

ne-coverYou know that feeling when you’re at work, and you’ve had enough of people, and then the boss walks in with yet another job that needs to be done right this second or the world will end, but all you want to do is go home and binge your favorite shows? And you’re a sentient murder machine programmed for destruction? Congratulations, you’re Murderbot.

Come for the pew-pew space battles, stay for the most relatable A.I. you’ll read this century.

I’m usually alone in my head, and that’s where 90 plus percent of my problems are.

When Murderbot’s human associates (not friends, never friends) are captured and another not-friend from its past requires urgent assistance, Murderbot must choose between inertia and drastic action.

Drastic action it is, then.

I’m a HUGE fan of The Murderbot Diaries and am so excited to read the new novel. I was lucky enough to hear Martha read a bit from it last year at CapClave and I can’t wait to read the rest, I know it’s going to be amazing. Network Effect is set to release May 5th, 2020 from Tor.com.

People kept telling me to read Murderbot saying ‘Lisa, you basically are Murderbot’ and I was lol okay, but then I read it and I was like ‘omg they were right’ and they’re really fun books. 🙂
