The Sunday Post #20

thesundaypost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Random News And Goings-On

Here we are at my last general update of the year. How has 2019 gone by so fast? It feels just like yesterday that I was ringing in the new year and now it’s almost that time again. I hope that everyone who celebrates had a great holiday. We went to my aunt’s house and saw most of my mom’s family on Christmas, which was fun. There are always a lot of people because my mom is one of eight kids and I have 15 cousins and at least half of my cousins have kids now so even when only a portion of the family shows up it’s a lot. On Christmas Eve we were at my in-laws exchanging presents and visiting and it was really nice.

Overall, I’m just glad to have most of the holidays over with–too much socializing in a row for this introvert! On NYE the plan is to go over our friend’s place and play table top games as per the tradition of the last few years. So it should be fun. But I’m enjoying my downtime weekends in between things. 😀

I’ve been getting a lot of reading done as I race toward 200 total books read for the year. I only have one more to go! Most have been romance novels and not SFF–they’re quick reads for me and also give me all those warm and fuzzy feelings, kind of like when you look at baby Yoda and your heart grows three sizes. 🙂

My husband gifted me some books for Christmas, some selections off of my wishlist. I’m really glad he got the graphic novels I had on there because they’re what I wanted most of all. Not all of these are SFF.

  • Mooncakes by Wendy Xu and Suzanne Walker
  • Chronin Vols 1 & 2 by Alison Wilgus
  • The ‘More or Less’ Definitive Guide to Self-Care by Anne Borges
  • The Absinthe Earl by Sharon Lynn Fisher
  • The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang (I read this one right away and it’s super adorable I love it so much)

Ebooks

Only one ebook, I’ve been concentrating on reading some I already have on my device. I picked up Mixed Signals by Alyssa Cole because I decided to binge read her Off the Grid series and I already had the first two. Off the Grid is a trilogy of romance novels that take place after something has knocked out the electricity everywhere sending humans back to the dark ages. Sorta. It’s like post-apocalyptic romance. I really love the way she writes her characters. These stories each feature a different sibling of the Seong family and I really loved the relationships of the family members in these books. Highly recommend if you’re looking for some romance with some science fiction elements. Also, sexy times, if you’re into that sort of thing. 🙂

Audiobooks

No new audiobooks this week! I do have two audible credits to use but I’m undecided what to get with them so I might hold onto them for a bit.

Well, that’s the news for this week, see you next time!

Wow, big family! I have a big family too. My mum is also one of 8, but it’s been a while since we’ve all gotten together. However, whenever it’s even a small portion of us together, it’s still a lot.
