This Week in Reading: Steady as She Goes

This past week I managed to finish two book and get a decent way into a third. Not bad for a week where I was pretty busy and didn’t have time to read at all during the weekend! I did try (half-heartedly) to read at the convention for a half second but gave up pretty fast and decided to hang out and mingle with people instead. Who knew I could be social? Not this introvert, that’s for sure. I’ll have a more full report on Sunday, but the long and short of it is, I had a fantastic time at my first CapClave! I’ll definitely be going next year.

I’m still in the middle or reading Legacy of Ghosts by Alicia Wanstall-Burke. Super enjoying this sequel so far. I did pause mid-week so that I could read the new Vampire Knitting Club book that came out or else I’d probably be finished, so looking forward to finishing it up this week.

In audio I started The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco. I’m not super far into this one, but it’s not long so I should be able to finish this one up pretty quickly. So far, it’s pretty interesting and I’m enjoying the way magic works in this world.

I will probably at the very least have time to start another audio this week, so I’ll probably go with Salem’s Lot by Stephen King so I can have that finished for my book club in time. As for print, if I have time to start another book it might be one of the other novellas left on my list, or maybe I’ll start a chonker. Guess it depends what I’m in the mood for, still playing things a little looser as far as ‘plans’. Hope you all have a great week! What are your reading plans? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

I can’t wait to hear about Capcave! I feel like there were several cons going on this past weekend, for some reason. I’m reading Dark Pattern by Andrew Mayne and loving it. I hope to finish in time to get a review up this week😁

There actually were several! They had one in Canada where the Aurora awards were held, then one down in the Southern US somewhere (Atlanta maybe?) And then there was FantasyCon where the BSF awards were happening…there was alot going on in fandom this past weekend lol.
Glad you’re enjoying your current read, looking forward to your thoughts on it!

‘Salem’s Lot actually spooked me a bit but it’s such a good read. Great for this time of year. Hope you like it.
And great that CapClave was good.

I’m very much looking forward to it. My husband just finished the book and said he liked it well enough lol, but we also have vastly different tastes when it comes to books most of the time. 🙂

If you like epic fantasy with a bit more personal stakes than you’d probably enjoy this series, I really loved the first book. I don’t know much about Salem’s Lot either other than vampires, surprisingly because I’ve read several of his books and shorter works.
