This tag was originally created by Jenn @ Jenniely. I first saw this tag from Brittany over at Perfectly Tolerable and thought it looked like a lot of fun so I decided to fill it out. I love Autumn, it’s my favorite season. The colors, the smells, the cooler weather after the heat of the sun all Summer….there’s just so much to love. Also, sweaters!
Hot Chocolate – what is your comfort book?
This changes depending on my mood (I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but I am VERY mood driven). I think, recently, it’s been books like The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison. That book always makes me feel better, like a hug. I also re-read a lot of romances as comfort reads.
Pumpkin Carving – what is your favorite creative outlet?
I’m pretty fickle when it comes to hobbies! For a long time I used to draw and paint, but I haven’t really done that for years–would love to get back into that. I’ve always written, and for a while I was super into that, but that’s fallen off recently too. I’ve done crafts, like scrapbooking and stuff. I think right now my only real creative outlet is this blog! I also do play RPG’s and boardgames too.
Falling Leaves – changes that appear bad but you secretly love?
Hmmm, right now I’m reorganizing stuff in my house. I’ve konmari-ed two closets and have a TON more places in my house that I need to get to. We have so much stuff–everywhere there is stuff. And I’m questioning what ‘stuff’ I want to hold onto and what can be given away or thrown out. It’s a process and one I’m taking my time with because, although I always feel so much better after things are organized, getting rid of things can be hard! But seeing things all nice and neat is the best.
Pumpkin Spiced Latte – something you love that others tend to judge
I still kind of love Twilight, I don’t care what anyone else thinks. There.
Bonfire Night – what makes you explode with joy?
New books that I’ve been waiting for, especially if they’re highly anticipated sequels. There have been so many this past year, it’s been really exciting! Still more to come as well. I think the ones I’m still looking forward to most this year are The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black and The Hanged Man by K.D. Edwards. There are a lot of anticipated sequels coming out next year too. I think a lot of my most recent favorite series have been wrapping up either this year or next though. But the good news is there are always new books and new series!
Fright Night – favorite scary book or film
Hmm, this is tough because I don’t read a ton of horror and prefer ‘gothic’ like psychological horror and creepiness opposed to more modern slasher flicks or stories. I do think one of the scariest books I’ve ever read is Stephen King’s The Shining–that topiary scene….*shudders*. As far as gothic, can’t go wrong with Rebecca by Daphne de Maurier. The movie Gaslight staring Charles Boyer and Ingrid Bergman is a classic!
Halloween candy – favorite thing to eat
I don’t think I have a favorite food. I love a nice juicy burger. I love pizza. Hot dogs! Sausage! Sandwiches! I love basically anything that probably isn’t too healthy and I should only eat in moderation. 🙂
Scarves – your autumn ‘must have’ accessory
Sweaters, of course. But also I LOVE knit hats, especially ones shaped like animals and other fun things. And even though 40-something might be too old to be sporting silly hats–screw it, you only live once! Also, finger-less gloves. Love me some finger-less gloves.
Fire – a book or film that burns your soul
Most recently Wolfsong by T.J. Klune. I laughed and cried and it was such a roller coaster of emotions. I loved every minute of reading that book, it was just the perfect read for me. I love books that connect with me on such an emotional level–that’s what it’s all about for me.
Toffee apples – a book or film that seems one thing but really has a different inside
Going to go back to my first answer with this one and mention The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison again. At it’s core, it’s about Maia finding his was after being suddenly thrust into an unfamiliar situation, finding friends and family while watching out for enemies. But….it’s about so much more than that. It’s about change. And how change can come from kindness. And it touches on feminism, racism, change in technological advances, and really just…progress. It’s a book about progression and how the world’s not standing still.

You’re welcome and thanks! 🙂
I am a closet Twilight fan as well! And I think it’s because I read the book way before it became big and everyone started making fun of it. I think the movie had a lot to do with that hate, unfortunately.
Yep, same. And I totally agree with you about the movie having to do with the hate.
I’m also a Twilight fan – I can’t deny that I raced out to buy the books as soon as they were released. Although, I never really liked the fourth book and, like Tammy, I don’t think the movies really helped.
This is a great post and it’s made me want to go and eat lots of delicious comfort food.
Lynn 😀
Thanks Lynn! There were a couple of things I liked about the 4th book but it was bumpy compared to the rest imo, so have mostly agree with you there. 🙂
I think that Aliens abducted the real Stephenie Meyer and an impostor alien Meyer wrote the fourth book 😄 it’s one theory anyway!
That’s certainly a theory lol. 😀
konmari sounds super cool! (I just googled it 😂 😂 ) I totally should do that, but I have trouble getting rid of things! Kudos to you ❤
I have trouble getting rid of things too, which is why I desperately need to konmari lol! But the things that truly make me happy I will hold on to. Things like my old seashell/rock collection….well, why do I need that? It’s all about what brings you joy. 🙂
Oh I wanna do this tag too! 🙂
I also like autumn. I’m not eager about the cold, but I love my fall wardrobe and also the changing leaves.
Yes, exactly to all of that. I really do not like the cold at all, but Fall is nice. If only it would last a little longer I’d be happy. 🙂
Thanks for the tag! It looks fun! You’ve got some good answers. The Queen Of Nothing would make me happy too, though maybe not by the end… I still need to check out Wolfsong. I hope I’ll have time to do this tag soonish but I’m not sure.
Thanks! No pressure on the tag. 🙂
