20 Books of Summer Challenge – August Check In #20BooksofSummer

20booksofsummer

To recap, the 20 Books of Summer challenge is created and hosted by Cathy from 746 Books. The rules are simple – pick 20 books (or 10 or 15) to read over the Summer (June 3rd-September 3rd) in order to reduce our TBR piles. I’m doing 25 Books of Summer because I’m crazy and like a challenge. 🙂

Only one more month to go! TIME TO PANIC. Let’s see how I’m doing at smashing (or not smashing) that TBR pile.

  6. Under Ordshaw by Phil Williams

AUDIOBOOKS IN THE TBR MOUNTAIN

  1. The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon – Currently Reading
  2. Last Bastion by Rachel Aaron and Travis Bach
  3. Beautiful by Juliet Marillier
  4. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
  5. Touch by Claire North

Since last month’s update I’ve only got one more book from my physical TBR pile read, but I’ve managed to read four from my ‘other ebooks’ section so I’ve finally got a good start there. I’ve also completed two more books from my audiobook list. Overall, that means I’ve completed seven more books from this TBR pile, which is great! The bad news is, I still have twelve more to go.

I’m not worried about the audiobooks at all. I think I’ll have more than enough time to complete the two I have left with a lot of room to spare, especially since I’m a good chunk into The Priory of the Orange Tree already.

As far as physical books, I think I can get through most of them if I really put my mind to it. I’m going to convert at least one to audio (I have an audio copy of Crown of Feathers), maybe two if I have time to squeeze in another audio before the month is over. The other three books I have left should be quick-ish reads, provided I find the time.

The thing that I’m most concerned with is ebooks and my last eARC. I have another eARC that I got approved for that comes out later this month so I have to squeeze that in as soon as possible and it may bump The Girl With No Face to later in the month or very early September. My priority here is going to be books that are due (whether they were part of this challenge originally or not), so if that means things that don’t have a ‘due date’ get bumped, so be it. That leaves me with one eARC and four other ebooks that I may or may not be able to find time for, but we’ll see!

Despite my best efforts, I don’t think I’m going to be able to cross all twenty-five of these off of my list come September 3rd. I’m not saying it’s impossible, just unlikely. It’s just been a couple of rougher reading months with lots of distractions going on. Hopefully this month will be great and I can prove myself wrong, but we’ll see!

Thank you! You’re right, it definitely is progress, and I’m finally making headway with some of my review requests so that’s a great thing. Definitely looking forward to Storm of Locusts!

You’ve done so well with your list so far – it still looks very challenging to me personally but you do manage to read a lot more than me in an average week so fingers crossed.

Thanks! It’s definitely going to be a challenge to finish, and frankly I don’t think I will, but I’m going to carry on and get as many read as I can. At least that way I’ll have less carry over to my Fall TBR pile. 😀
