Another week in reading down. Last week wasn’t fantastic with reading, but I did manage to finish one book–not SFF though. Buuuuut, I’m almost finished two other books so there’s that at least.
Now that I’ve got most of my major events out of the way (still have a few things, but they’re not all day things and I may even have a day or two free here and there) I’m feeling a lot less stressed. Also, I’ve managed to catch up on a LOT of blogging stuff. In fact, the only couple of things in my drafts folders are nearly complete posts for later in the month. 🙂
We had D&D on Friday night, which was a lot of fun. It was a super casual and relaxed session and I feel like my character made some good moves. Because of the way I built my character’s magic (he’s a sorcerer) I’ve made him super powerful with certain things and then he’s useless with others, LOL. But I got to take out a bunch of goblins this time around which was fun.
Yesterday was my fancy tea party book club meeting. I think it went well, talk around Good Omens was fun and we talked about a bunch of other stuff too. We had good food, not too much, and then later moved down to our game room and played a few table top games. This is the first time we played in the game room since we got it set up. Everyone seemed to like it and I think the space is gonna work out well, huzzah!
This past weekend I posted my Summer TBR pile. I’m going to do my best to stick to it because I need to get all of these books read and at least clear off the top of this end table in my living room. And I really need to catch up on review requests so I gotta hold myself to it.
This week I’ll be finishing up The Stone Sky by N. K. Jemisin in audio. I’m almost finished this one so should be done pretty early in the week. I’m really loving this one, just like the rest of the series. Weird but extremely engaging and I love the way the story is being told.
Next up in audio is Beautiful by Juliet Marillier. I LOVE Marillier. When I saw this book mentioned I had to go and pick up a copy right away. It’s a short audiobook, not even 8 hours, so I should be able to complete this one too. I also wanted to choose a short book because I think one of my other audio holds from the library is going to check out soon and timing is everything. 🙂
I still haven’t gotten around to The Book of Flora by Meg Elison yet, which I feel terrible about. But, mood reader. So, it’s on the list again for this week. It looks really good though so I’m looking forward to it.
Lastly, I have a middle grade book, Asha & The Spirit Bird by Jasbinder Bilan. I…may have picked this one up for that cover art alone. It’s so very pretty. This is a shorter read, and middle grade, so hopefully will able to speed through it pretty fast to get another book out of my TBR pile.
NOT PICTURED: Still working on Daughter of Mystery by Heather Rose Jones. I also hope to have this one finished up today because I only have about 30% to go. If I’m really lucky, maybe I can finish five books this week, hahaha.
Phew! That’s my plan for this week, we’ll see how things go. Any thoughts on these? What are you reading this week? Leave me a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
