Hi all! Today is my last day at Balticon, Baltimore’s Science Fiction and Fantasy convention. I’ve been having a GREAT time and I’ll be sure to put together a big gushing post about it once everything is said and done, so look forward to that later this week.

Now, as far as reading, well I started two books and I’m still in the middle of those two books. Because I had a short week at work, I had a day less of audiobook time. I also didn’t read much at all outside of work this week. I spent some lunch time reading and maybe one evening before bed, but I think I spent a lot of time watching TV (started watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel). I mistakenly thought I would work in some reading time between panels and such at the convention, hahahahaha. I’m so silly. Anywho. So, this week will be last week redux.

I’m about halfway through Mist, Metal, and Ash by Gwendolyn Clare and really enjoying the ride so far. This one is very fast paced and some very interesting things are happening in the story so I’m excited to see how it ends up. If I can work in some solid reading time I should be able to finish it up in a day or two at most.

I’m about three quarters of the way through A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine. This book is amazing. A space opera inspired by a Byzantine emperor in the last stages of his reign, with a super interesting culture, some politics, and a murder mystery. Perhaps if I had to do this one over I wouldn’t do it via audio (especially now that I’ve heard parts read by the author), but I’m definitely loving this book so far. Should be able to finish this up by mid-week.

Next up in print is still Fog Season by Patrice Sarath. I’ve been looking forward to this one since reading the previous book last year. Depending on how much reading time I can squeeze in this week, I should, hopefully, be able to finish this one up. Hopefully! I do have a mostly (mostly) free weekend ahead of me.

Overly ambitious picks:

So, if I finish the above books I’ll move on to these! I really think I should be able to at least start A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World by C. A. Fletcher. I may even be able to finish it since it’s only a little over 10 hours in audio. I’m really looking forward to this one because I’ve heard such great things from many of you. Then, last but not least, we have The Book of Flora by Meg Elison. This is one I’ve been sent for review, but it also seems right up my alley so I have high hopes for it. I’m thinking I should be able to at least start this one. Today at the convention is a half-day only, and then I have the weekend as well. Forget all other plans, I need to read! 😀
