The Off The Grid Readathon was created by Shanah from Bionic Bookworm and is co-hosted by Justine over at I Should Read That–which is where I first heard about this wonderful event! Thanks to these two for creating and running this challenge.
This readathon is quarterly and the first one of the year starts this weekend at midnight on Friday and ends 11:59pm Sunday night. The point is to stay off of your phone and read. If you want the full rules/details, please check out Justine’s post over at I Should Read That. There is a twitter handle for the readathon you can follow and there will be a single twitter chat on Sunday (in the spirit of staying off the grid as much as possible).
To catch up on my ARC’s and Review books I decided to give this a whirl! Conveniently, I also happened to have most of this weekend free (yay!) so I’m blocking out some reading time and going for it! I’ll definitely be participating this quarter and if all goes well and I have some free time next quarter, I’ll probably jump in then too. π
I’m hoping I’ll be able to get through at least three books over the weekend, maybe four if I read like the wind. I’m still coming up with my exact TBR list for the event, but I know pretty much what my top priorities are and that’s what I’ll be pulling from. Hopefully this will help me catch up on things and feel slightly less stressed. I’m excited!
If you don’t have any plans this weekend or even if you want to block out a day or half a day, consider joining in! It should be a fun time reading with little to no distractions.
EEK! So glad you’re joining in! I can’t wait to see what you accomplish during the readathon!
Thanks! I’m looking forward to it. I tend to get distracted easily so this will be perfect. π
Hmm, considering it. Discord is honestly a huge distraction π
Yasss, you need some off the grid time! π
I try to do this regularly anyway, and it always feel so good to “accomplish” making progress in a book versus completely losing gobs of time to who knows what online. It has killed my ability to keep up on reddit and other online things as much though. And real life still gets in the way of reading way more than I’d prefer π
I have such a short attention span these days, I always just go online and spend so much time randomly surfing. I need to get better about doing this. In the summer it’s not too bad because I go outside on my porch to read, but in the winter I don’t really have that option. I need to get better at focusing! π
Good luck! It’s nearly impossible for me to devote a weekend to reading, unfortunately π
I’m lucky that I can. My husband even said he will buy me some snacks for it. Even if I couldn’t I’d probably try to carve out an hour or so without distractions, that’s the toughest part for me! I get sidetracked too easily.
Good luck!! I canβt wait to see what you read!
Thanks! I’ll post my experience on Monday, I’m sure. π
Good luck! Too much of my work is on the computer and online so it’s hard for me to truly unplug, but I think it’s a fantastic idea!
Thanks! Yeah. Half my books are on my phone so I don’t know how I am going to manage without giving in to the temptation to check the internet.
Good luck with your read-a-thon!! I don’t think I could unplug completely enough to do this haha. Good for you and happy reading β€
Thanks! It’s gonna be tough, but I’m excited!
Good luck with getting (and staying) unplugged this weekend!
Thanks, I’m going to try my best. π
I’d probably think I was winning if I completed one book in a weekend – never mind 4! Good luck, hope this goes well.

Thanks! If I can stay off my phone and computer I should be ok, but we’ll see. π
Sounds great- good luck!
Thanks! So far, so good!
