I haven’t been focused on acquiring books lately because I’ve been trying to get down my TBR pile (ha. ha.), but there are always new things coming out and books that I’m interested in checking out so I have picked up a few new things here and there.
I’ve only gotten one new ARC – thanks to Tachyon Publications for providing an eARC of Jane Yolen’s How to Fracture a Fairy Tale. I love Jane Yolen’s short fiction, especially her fairy tale retellings, so I’m really looking forward to diving in to this collection!
I went on a mini book buying spree the other day and picked up a few new titles. Both Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett and City of Lies by Sam Hawke I’ve seen a lot of praise for so I thought I’d better pick them up and check them out for myself. I picked up Markswoman by Rati Mehrotra because I saw a review for the sequel and this looks like a series that’s just my type of thing. This month I read and loved The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal. I didn’t realize the second book was coming out so quickly! I’m super excited for The Fated Sky but I may have to put it off for a bit to catch up on some other books. Into the TBR pile these go!
I have also picked up a few new ebooks. Some of these were on sale and others I picked up because someone suggested them to me or they’re on my list of ‘books to read in 2018’. A lot of interesting stuff is now in my ever expanding electronic TBR pile. π
Not sure when I’ll get around to reading all of these, some definitely have higher priority than others, but I have a bunch of new titles to choose from now when I’m looking around for something to read.
Are any of these titles you’ve read or are looking forward to? Let me know what you think, I’d love to hear from you.! Happy reading!
The Death of the Necromancer, nice! Hope you get to that one, soon. π
We’ll see. I have a lot of review requests to get through first, and reading prep for WFC. π
Loved the post. ππβ€π
Thanks!
Wow, great bunch of books! Vicious is wonderful, and the sequel comes out in September so you should read it nowπ And I adored Foundryside, and City of Lies is high on my wishlist.
So many good books! I have some review requests to get through and book prep reading for upcoming events but hopefully I can work Vicious in there somewhere. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it!
So many books, so little time. I’m almost looking forward to winter when everyone stays inside all the time and I don’t get invited to a ton of things. ππ
Awesome haul! Vicious is on my TBR listπ
Thanks! I’ve heard good things about it so looking forward to that one. π
A lot of good stuff here! I have to get cracking on City of Lies as well, I’d originally wanted to read it earlier this summer. I’ve heard some great things about it too.
There are so many things I wanted to read earlier this summer, lol. Too many books. I’m looking forward to City of Lies, have also heard many great things.
I’ve been hearing good things about Foundryside. I might get it too.
I also have Everfair. I think I bought last year. Still need to read it.
I have a feeling Everfair will be in my TBR for a while. Going to try and get to Foundryside soonish.
Great picks!! Looking forward to hearing what you think of them. I’m currently reading (and enjoying) City of Lies, really enjoyed Marswoman and Court of Broken Knives. And I think I need to find the time for Foundryside as well because I’ve heard amazing things
I’m really trying to get to both Foundryside and City of Lies sometime soon but I have so many other books on my plate atm. Glad to hear you enjoyed Markswoman!
Ooh lots of pretty covers! I’ve been debating whether I want the UK or the US edition for Foundryside. And Martha Wells’ Ile Rien book is AWESOME π
You know, I think this is one of the rare times I actually like the US cover better lol.
I haven’t heard much about this Martha Wells book so that’s great to know!
Great gook haul. I enjoyed Foundryside and City of lies and I think Anna Smith Spark’s series is brilliant so far – so unusual in terms of style of writing.
Enjoy.
Lynn π
Thanks!
