This week should be a lot of fun. I’ll be reading two books I’ve very much been looking forward to, as well as one that everyone has said I should enjoy! I also have a short audiobook to read for my bookclub – a mystery. And I still have one book to finish from last week, but it’s a quick read.
I had a great week in reading and managed to finish up almost all four books on my list from last week! I didn’t get through all of Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews, however, because after over a week of rain the sun came out finally and I did a few outdoors projects and then had an unexpected visit with family on Sunday. (Summertime, yay!) The good news is that this is a fast read and I should be able to get through it in a day or two and then start up on this week’s selection. And what a selection it is!
I’m very much excited to read is The Nightmare we Know by Krista D. Ball. I’ve been a friend and a fan of Ball’s work for about three or four years now. She’s a very strong writer of characters, which is why her books work so well for me. This is the second book in her Dark Abyss of Our Sins series. A sort of fantasy of manners mixed with high fantasy and featuring politics and lots of romantic banter. I’ve been looking forward to this one because the first left off on a bit of a cliffhanger. 😀 Also, isn’t that cover by Tommy Arnold great?
Next I’ll be getting to Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers. I absolutely adored the first two Wayfarers books and I can’t wait to dive into this one. Everything I’ve heard by those that have read it so far has been great and I hope I love it as much as the first two. These books have rekindled my love of space opera and left me wanting more hopeful stories in the genre.
In audio I’ll be listening to The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter by Theodora Goss. Everyone keeps saying they think this is my type of book so I decided to check it out. Also, I received a copy of the second book for review so I’d like to get through this first one so I can dive into the tome that is European Travel for the Monstrous Gentlewoman.
For my book club I’ll be reading a mystery, The Blessing Way by Tony Hillerman. This is a mystery book. I quite enjoy mysteries but I don’t read them as much as I used to so this should be a fun and quick read. This is the first of the Leaphorn and Chee detective stories.
A lot of these are quick reads and I’m mostly caught up on reviews for now, so maybe I’ll be able to get through all of these for once. We’ll see. (I’m being overly ambitious again, but what’s a girl to do when she has a huge TBR pile?)
So, that’s my plans. What are you reading this week? Leave me a message in the comments, I’d love to hear from you! Happy reading!
