This Week in Reading: Apocalypse and Magic Powers, More Dresden, Historical Fantasy, and Fantastic Curses.

Another busy week last week! I did manage to read a couple of books but, as usual lately, didn’t finish all of the books on my list.

I didn’t get a chance to start Star Touched by A.L. Kaplan yet, so this is still on my list from last week. I really am looking forward to this one, but I just didn’t have time to get to it yet. The premise seems pretty cool. The main character has star-touched abilities–the power to heal, but those with powers are being persecuted and she has to flee. Also, this takes place in a sort of broken down society so that should be pretty interesting.

I’m about forty percent in to Jim Butcher’s Dead Beat. The Dresden Files books so far have been pretty quick audiobooks to get through so I should be able to finish this up in the next day. Hopefully will be able to because it’s due back at the library in two days. 😀

Next up is a review request, The Holtur Curse by Cameron Wayne Smith. At first glance this one sounds like it may be a more traditional style fantasy, but we’ll see when I get into it. Looking forward to diving in!

And finally, I should definitely be able to get to Valour and Vanity by Mary Robinette Kowal this week since I’ll likely fly through Dresden (and even if I don’t it’s due back at the library). I’ve enjoyed the first few in this series and I’m looking forward to spending more time with these characters. I want to try and finish up this series before I pick up the new Lady Astronaut series from Kowal. 🙂

So, that’s it, another busy week planned. I don’t see much issue with the audio books, but we’ll see what I get through in print. What is everyone else reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to hear from you! Happy Reading!
