This Week in Reading: Finishing up Maddaddam, Visiting with Lady Trent, more Sorcerous Siblings, and Magic Cabals

I’m finishing up two books from last week and then starting some new things.

I’m about halfway through Maddaddam on audio and I have to say, I’m loving it even though it’s just as–if not more–weird than the first two books in Margaret Atwood’s Maddaddam trilogy. So. Much. Blue. Dong. Waving all around. A lot. Just sayin. 😀

Next up on audio is The Tropic of Serpents, the second book in Marie Brennan’s The Memoirs of Lady Trent series. I read the first book a couple of years ago and thought it was good but there were some things that didn’t click with me all the way. Continuing on with the series as part of my ‘finish all the series’ reading goal, and also because I just really love those covers. Hoping I’ll like this one a bit more than the first one!

I’m more than halfway through Sorcerous Rivalry by Kayleigh Nicol. I’m trying to read more indie and self-published authors so I signed up as a reviewer in the TBRindr database over at The Weatherwax Report (thanks so much for all your work on this, Esme!). This is the first book to come my way from it and I have to say, I’m really loving it so far! The main character is so much fun and the pace of the story is great.

Next up is Witchmark by C.L. Polk. I’m so excited for this book! Tor.com publishing got me with their description on twitter: MM romance, witch battles, bicycle chases, sexy shaving scenes. Um, yes please! Sounds like a fun, refreshing read and I can’t wait to get to it.

What is everyone else reading this week? Leave a message in the comments, always curious to see what others are reading (and looking to add to Mt. TBR). Happy reading!
