Sophia was made for him. Her perfect husband. She can feel it in her bones. He is perfect. Their home together in Arcadia Gardens is perfect. Everything is perfect.
It’s just that he’s away so much. So often. He works so hard. She misses him. And he misses her. He says he does, so it must be true. He is the perfect husband and everything is perfect.
But sometimes Sophia wonders about things. Strange things. Dark things. The look on her husband’s face when he comes back from a long business trip. The questions he will not answer. The locked basement she is never allowed to enter. And whenever she asks the neighbors, they can’t quite meet her gaze…
But everything is perfect. Isn’t it?
I know a few of you have mentioned this one a while ago and I’ll admit that the idea of this book is really growing on me. I’ve only read one book by Valente before but I absolutely loved that one and I can’t wait to read more–especially one billed as a thriller. I see a lot of potential in this read! Comfort Me with Apples is expected October 26th, 2021.
I very nearly featured this one this week. I love the sound of it – it has a strange Bluebeard feel to it.
Lynn 😀
Yeah, it does! And even though I’ve only read one book of hers so far I feel like she really comes through with whatever she’s trying to do with the prose. So looking forward to it. 😀
I’m excited to read this too😁
Yay! I hope we both love it. 😀
That cover is stunning!
It really is!
the cover, the title, the synopsis…this sounds so intriguing!
I thought so too!
With each iteration of the word “perfect” I felt a chill coursing down my spine – which sounds like an invitation to read this book! 😉
It does, doesn’t it! 😀
Likewise — I really appreciate Valente’s work. My favorite of hers is Deathless. I’m looking forward to this new book.
I’m really wanting to read more of her work. I’ve only read Space Opera which I loved.
