Hi everyone! Yesterday we had a bit of a snow event that will continue into today and tomorrow morning. They’re calling this one a two parter with a lot of potential for part two but I guess we’ll see. We had about 4-6 inches with part one of the event so not too bad. I actually don’t like snow? Ever since becoming an adult who has to drive in snow I really dislike dealing with it–shoveling it and sweeping it off of things UGH. And it’s so cold! I hate being cold. Anywho. Thankfully my husband is the best and cleaned off my car for me Sunday night. 🙂
As for reading, last week wasn’t bad. I made great progress on my audio–I think I’m getting a rhythm for listening to my audiobooks at work sometimes in the morning so I did manage to get a little bit more time this past week. I managed to finish two print books–one science fiction and one historical romance. I’ve also managed to finish up all my review requests. Now if I can just finish writing my reviews, everything will be great. I’m only about three behind but still. I’m hoping to get caught up on those this week.
This week I’m mood reading so I’m totally ignoring my TBR that I posted yesterday. 😉 So, I’m going to finish up The Books of Ambha series by Tasha Suri by reading Realm of Ash. Very much looking forward to this sequel as I loved the first one. I can’t wait to check out this story.
In audio I’m still working on A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir. This is so good! I am so excited to be back in this world with these characters and all the cool world building. I’m very much looking forward to seeing how this story concludes. I might be able to finish this one up by next week but I don’t want to be too hopeful about that–it depends on various factors working out just so. 🙂
That’s all I’m putting on my plate for this week but depending on how quickly I manage to get through my print book I may check out another book as well. What that will be–not sure. This is the joy of mood reading. What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
For us Californians, snow is only a dream, unless you drive up to the mountains, lol. I think LA would come to a screeching halt if it were to snow🤣 Which I’m ok with!
People panic with snow here too even though we get it every winter haha. The ice was terrible this morning though! I’ll take snow any day of the week over ice.
Glad you’re enjoying your reads! Happy reading!

Thanks, Evelyn! Have a great week. 🙂
I’m curious to see what you’ll think of Realm of Ash! I absolutely adored Empire of Sand, but wasn’t originally planning on reading Realm all that soon because the first one felt so solid by itself.
The snow is just starting to fall here on the coast, and everyone swarmed out of my office around noon to get ahead of it today, so I’m looking at remote work tomorrow. Not too mad about it, honestly, because that means extra snuggle time with the cats!
Realm of Ash follows different characters so I think it’s perfectly fine to treat them as two stand alones in a way. 🙂 So far I’m enjoying it but not very far in.
Y’all are probably going to get slammed with this nor’easter up that way. Usually the only time we get huge snows here is from nor’easters but they have to hit *just* right and although this one is skimming us we’re not getting the brunt of it. Good luck! I’m currently cozied up with some hot tea and a blanket and my book is waiting for me when I get off the computer. 🙂
LOL yeah the snow’s pretty bad, and we’ll see how things go tonight. Snow I don’t mind, actually, it’s the freezing rain that I hate, and we’re supposed to be getting some of that!
The ice was terrible! Luckily I got about half a snow-day from work yesterday because of it so more reading time, yay. 🙂
I enjoyed getting to see the snow yesterday, but the cold is terrible haha! Glad you’re enjoying Sky💜
Yeah, I’ll be happy once Spring arrives LOL!
Thanks, Kaya!
Same here on the snow! And, OMG!, I hope the weather people are wrong as usual and more snow doesn’t come. I’ve been being horrible and have been diving deep into work to avoid having to shovel or clean cars.
Luckily we didn’t wind up with too much here, but that ice was terrible and I would have rather had snow. We’re supposed to get another storm on Sunday so I guess we’ll see how that goes.
I don’t like snow either! It’s all good and nice when it’s still fresh and clean and turns the surroundings into something “magical”, but all too soon it turns to ice and it turns a normal walk into a dangerous adventure, because I’m literally *terrified* of slipping, falling and hurting myself… 😉
Yes, exactly! I try and walk like a penguin on it and that helps but still, I’m uncoordinated at the best of times–ice and snow is just tempting fate!
Mood reading – it’s the way forward. Glad to hear you’re working out your audio routine.
Lynn 😀
Thanks, Lynn! I’m glad that I’m getting a little more audio time myself. It feels nice.
Mood reading is definitely the best. 😀
Is there a course for learning how to fully listen to audiobooks while you’re working on something else? Asking for….a friend *fidgets* But seriously, I was listening to two audiobooks while I was working and painting last month and every twenty minutes I was like, “wait who is whose baby momma??” It’s so HARD not worrying about little details slipping by when I’m in that I-gotta-write-a-review-for-this mode. Also, I’d happily to take all your unwanted snow. 😛 It’s mostly been raining here and I’m craving some change in scenery
Hah! Well, usually the audio book has to be really engaging and the work has to be pretty much something I can do on autopilot or I tune them out myself. It’s tough! You basically have to train yourself to pay attention and even then *mind wanders…*
I would happily give you any and all of our snow. I can not wait for Spring! 🙂
I really enjoyed Empire of Sand and want to get to Realm of Ash before I read Jasimine Throne (I know they’re not related, but I’ve had Realm on my shelf for ages). Enjoy your reading!
Yeah, I totally get that though! I also want to finish up this series before starting a new one by her lol. I’m almost finished Realm of Ash and I’m really loving it! Hope you do when you check it out. 🙂
