In a small Western Queensland town, a reserved young woman receives a note from one of her vanished brothers—a note that makes question her memories of their disappearance and her father’s departure.
A beguiling story that proves that gothic delights and uncanny family horror can live—and even thrive—under a burning sun, Flyaway introduces readers to Bettina Scott, whose search for the truth throws her into tales of eerie dogs, vanished schools, cursed monsters, and enchanted bottles.
In these pages Jennings assures you that gothic delights, uncanny family horror, and strange, unsettling prose can live—and even thrive—under a burning sun.
Holly Black describes as “half mystery, half fairy tale, all exquisitely rendered and full of teeth.” Flyaway enchants you with the sly, beautiful darkness of Karen Russell and a world utterly its own.
Not ashamed to say that this is one the cover has sold me on! Not only that but praise from Kelly Link marks this one high on my priority list. Flyaway is expected July 28th, 2020 from Tor.com.
Beautiful cover!!
I know right?! Half of the appeal right there haha 😄
Very excited for this too. And I agree, a Kelly Link blurb will almost always sell me on a book😁
Right? Kelly Link’s opinion holds sway!
I have a copy of this, but so far it’s on my maybe list – but if I see some good reviews, it might get upgraded to a must 😀
Oh nice. I’ll keep an eye out then to see if you get to it. 🙂
I do love the cover for this one and I had been eyeballing it – and it has gothic in the description (twice!) I’m doomed I tell you. I’m trying to behave though because I do have a lot of books forthcoming – and I figure I can buy a copy if everyone absolutely adores it. Of course it will then sit on my kindle for five years – but at least it won’t be on the bookshelf needing dusting. Small silver linings.
Long story short – I would like to read this one really but I’m going to be good for now.
Lynn 😀
The cover and ‘gothic’ is what drew me in too haha. Totally know what you mean, I have SOOOO many books in my TBR read pile already but it’s also tough not to look at new stuff coming out. 😀
