Well, after a couple of weeks of not much movement, I’ve finally got my reading mojo back, woooohooo! Last week I finished up both audiobooks and started a third, and I also finished up one review request and am halfway through an eARC. My birthday is Wednesday so I spent this weekend celebrating, but managed to squeeze some reading in anyway. Spent Sunday at the Maryland Renaissance Festival with my husband. It had been a few years since I’d been but it was just like old times (or ye olde times, har har)! I spent too much money on stuff I don’t need, but I don’t care because I had a great time. 😀

Jousting is actually our state sport!
I’m feeling pretty good about where I’m at right now, reading-wise, but we’ll see how things progress. I’ll be going out Wednesday night to celebrate (can’t have too many celebrations in my opinion) and we have a Halloween party on Saturday night at a friend’s place. Plus I’m supposed to be spending all next weekend cleaning my house in prep for my next Tea Party Bookclub meeting on Nov. 11th. Why not prep the weekend before? Because I’ll be at World Fantasy Convention that weekend. And then it’s NaNoWriMo. I feel incredibly busy just listing all of that. Phew!
Speaking of NaNoWriMo, for the month of November I have put my Friday Favorite Five posts on hiatus and will be utilizing Friday’s for NaNo update posts. I also have pre-scheduled as many posts as I can for November. I’ll be around of course, but I may be slower to respond than usual. We’ll see how it all goes!
Ok, so now to finally get to this week’s reading!
First up, finishing up an eARC of Blood of Heirs by Alicia Wanstall-Burke. I started this one Saturday night and then wound up staying up way too late reading it (it’s sooo good). The characters are interesting and the story has been really engaging! I’m curious as to how the two separate story-lines are going to converge. More than halfway through this one so it probably won’t take me long to finish it up.
Next up in print, I have Walking Through Fire by Sherri Cook Woosley. I’m so excited for this one, you guys! It takes place in my home city and I can’t recall any other fantasy novel with a setting firmly in Baltimore. The concept is intriguing as well, and I’m really looking forward to diving in to this one.
I started Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas last week when I finished up Dresden on Friday. I’m about twenty percent through it but it’s a bit of a longer one so it may take me most of the week to finish it up, really depends on how much listening time I can get in at work. Figured I’d better get on it and read this one with the new one coming out!
Finally, I picked up Spellslinger by Sebastien de Castell because I keep hearing so many great things about this series! I wanted to wait until I finish off The Greatcoats, but seeing all the love for these books made me too excited and I just gave in and bought the first one. This is a shorter one so hopefully will be able to finish it up in a couple of days.
So, that’s my plan for this week! What is everyone else reading? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to hear from you! Happy reading!
I loved Spellsinger! I need to read the next books though, I feel very behind. Jousting looks so cool! Also, happy birthday 😁
Glad you loved that one too. Makes me even more excited to get to it. 🙂
Jousting is pretty neat to watch!

Happy birthday! What a great way to celebrate. I’ve heard lots about the Maryland Renaissance Faire, I know it’s HUGE! I didn’t know it ran into the fall, so that’s awesome. I’d like to go one day!
It’s a great time, lots of stuff to do for all ages. I think it runs 10 weekends starting in August. Hope you get a chance to check it out some time.
Happy birthday! I’m sorry I missed faire, but I’ll be at WFC!
I may have to do a NaNo write-in at the con-suite…
Thanks! Ha! I was thinking of bringing my laptop…there is that large space in programming for dinner so… lol.
You certainly can’t have too many celebrations. Happy belated birthday wishes.
Lynn 😀
Thanks, Lynn!
