I saw this tag recently from Paige over at Bookish Paige and thought I’d take a gander at it.
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Goodreads, but mostly love. I just have issues when they do updates because it can often be….glitchy. Also, I do wish the app had more functionality, but I guess we can’t always get what we want. π Either way, it’s a really huge part of the bookish community, and has become my number one place for tracking my reading (besides my spreadsheet, but even with that I pull data from Goodreads). The shelving system is pretty interesting and I was happy when they changed it to tags because the ‘shelf’ thing did seem a bit cumbersome. Anyway, Goodreads is fun! Here’s my goodreads profile. If I’m not already friends with you on there feel free to add me! Anyway, on with the tag!
What was the last book you marked as βreadβ?
The City of Brass by S. A. Chakraborty.Β And omg it was so good!!!! I can’t wait to write my review for this one. π
What are you currently reading?
Currently reading two books, one on my kindle app (The Demons Within by Ashe Armstrong) and one audiobook (Strange Practice by Vivian Shaw). Enjoying both!
What do you plan to read next?
Both Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (on audio) and Rabbit & Robot by Andrew Smith (print).
Do you use the Star Rating system?
Yep! I tend to rate high though. Most of the time if I score something and I think it’s between a 3 and a 4 I round up, unless I think ‘hmm, this is more like a 3.25’. I think if I enjoy a book but it’s kind of ‘meh’ then I usually rate 3. If I really like it then it’s a 4. If I LOVE it then it’s a 5. I rarely read any 2 or 1 star reads.
Are you doing a 2018 Reading Challenge?
Yep! I finished it already. I originally set it for 100 books but then upped it to 120 and I’m currently around 130 books read. I’ve been some kind of crazy reading machine this year.
Do you have a wishlist?
Not really.
What book do you plan on buying next?
Hard to say because I’m kind of spontaneous when I buy books. If I see a sale and it’s something I kind of want to read, I’ll buy it. So I never really have a ‘plan’. Although I do think my next big spree will be at The Baltimore Book Festival at the end of the month. I do plan on buying several books there, just not sure what all of them will be yet.
Do you have any favorite quotes?
I don’t have any added on my Goodreads page, but I do like a good quote. π
Do you have any favorite authors?
It’s hard to pick favorites because I feel like it changes with a breeze but I do have a few listed on gr. Right now I’m really into Becky Chambers because her books make me feel…well, so many things, but always leave me with a sense of hope. A few other favorites off the top of my head: Judith Merkle Riley, Jacqueline Carey, Mary Robinette Kowal, Fran Wilde….I have more on my list there.
Have you joined any groups?
I have! I’m a member of the r/fantasy Discussion Group which is a Goodreads group for members of reddit’s r/fantasy community. We have several book clubs that are, in part, tracked through the Goodreads group.
As per usual, not going to tag anyone, but if you feel like filling this one out, please do! Feel free to also leave a comment with your gr account so we can all link up. π
Ooh i wanna check out Kingdom of Brass since Kingdom of Copper comes out in 2019!
I can’t wait for the next book.π
Great tag! Iβm so glad you loved City of Brass! I look forward to reading your review π
It was so good. π
I don’t think I could live without Goodreads, but I HATE the ads that take over my computer screen. But it is a wonderful site despite some things like that.π
Yeah, I am pretty reliant on it these days. The ads are annoying for sure. Agreed, it’s pros definitely far outweigh any cons. π
I like Goodreads too – it’s just helpful in many respects plus I love lists and there are no shortages of lists on there.
Lynn π
Yes, definitely handy for lists!
Wow! That’s a lot you’ve read so far. One of these years I’d like to hit a high number of books read just to show myself that I can.
If you’d asked me a couple of years ago I never would have thought I’d be reading this many books a year, but audiobooks have been a game changer for me. I read twice as many books now, at least. You can totally do it!
