This Week in Reading: Plastic Magician, Spending Time with Harry Dresden, Some DysLit from Atwood, and Sorcerous Siblings

Last week was a great week in reading (even if it did take me a little longer to get through Space Opera than I anticipated) and this week looks to be pretty interesting and eclectic.

First up  The Plastic Magician by Charlie N. Holmberg. I didn’t get a chance to delve into this one last week so here it is again! I anticipate this being a quick read if it’s as good as the rest of the books in her Paper Magician series (of which this is a spin-off).

After this I’ll be reading Sorcerous Rivalry by Kayleigh Nicol. The illegitimate children of a sorceress and a king either battling it out or working together against mage hunters? Sounds pretty interesting!

Next up, in audio, I continue to make my way through The Dresden Files with book 3 in the series, Grave Peril. I’m enjoying these books, even though the first one felt a bit rough, the second one was a lot more smooth. Looking forward to this one and hopefully I’ll become a fan of the series like so many others have.

Once I finish up Grave Peril, I’ll be moving on to MaddAddam, the last book in Margaret Atwood’s dystopian trilogy. I’m a huge fan of both of the first books (Oryx and Crake and The Year of the Flood). These books have been full of near-future technology that doesn’t really seem like it’s that far off from happening. Even more frightening, all the elements are there for things to go down in such a way as the story unfolds within the pages. These books are equal parts weird and terrifying. Very much looking forward to concluding the trilogy.

So, yeah, all of the books for this coming week are very different flavors so this should be fun! What is everyone else reading this week? Leave a note in the comments section–always interested to see what everyone else is reading! Have a great week!

I never got to MaddAdam but I do love the first two books. I wonder if I could go back and read it now after such a long time from reading The Year of the Flood? I’m waffling amongst several books this week, struggling big time with one (The Peace Machine) and loving another (Terror is Our Business) and stressing about all the other review books I have this month!

It’s been a while since I’ve read the first two as well, but it’s such a unique feeling to the world Atwood created that I don’t think I’ll have any issues stepping right back into things. Hopefully. 🙂

Try not to stress too much!

I’m still reading The Poppy Wars, I need more hours in the day because I’m loving it and feel like I should be done by now. Also reading The Smoke Thieves, which is good. I really need to read more Atwood and have heard really good things about MaddAddam! Look forward to hearing what you think of it
