This week should be a really fun week in reading for me.
I’m finishing up Space Opera by Catherynne Valente. I’m about a third of the way through and so far it’s been a fun read filled with wry humor. For a book that’s about an intergalactic song contest it touches a lot on the human condition.
On audio I’m more than halfway through Circe by Madeline Miller. I’m really loving this one! The narrator is a great match for the material. I’ve always loved reading about the Greek gods, their various myths and legends. The author clearly has a great deal of familiarity with the sources and I love the way she breathes new life into these ancient tales.
Next up I have an eARC of The Plastic Magician by Charlie N. Holmberg. I am super excited to get to this one because I absolutely loved the Paper Magician Trilogy and tore through them all earlier this year (see my review here). I enjoyed the idea of channeling magic through materials, and also the romantic elements of the first series, so I’m looking forward to this spin off.
The last book I have planned to start this week is Head On by John Scalzi. The only book I’ve read by Scalzi is Lock In and I have to say, I really loved it for what was essentially a police procedural murder mystery. It could have been boring but the near future elements kept things fresh, especially navigating the world through someone who interacts with the world through a machine. I’m really excited for this one!
That’s the week I have planned, we’ll see how it goes! What is everyone else reading this week? Leave me a note in the comments, love to check out what other’s are enjoying. Happy reading!
I just started Head On and so far I’m really enjoying it! And Space Opera is next on my list, so I’m glad you’re having fun with it so farπ
I’m so excited for Head On! Happy to hear you’re enjoying that one, I’ve heard good things so far. π
I’m currently reading through The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater and thoroughly enjoying it! Also planning on reading The Poppy War next. π
I loved Those Raven Boys books so much! I wish I could read them all over for the first time again.
