This Week in Reading: Ahoy!

Hello all, I am finally back because I finally read a book! One book so far this new year but you know what? I’ll take it. I read this one after one of the other r/fantasy mod’s pointed out Alexis Hall’s review for it on goodreads and thought to myself ‘challenge accepted’. You can read my (very lengthy) reaction thread here–it doesn’t spoil too much but I don’t think this is a book that can really be spoiled much anyway. It’s a long thread full of wtf-ery—don’t say you weren’t warned. πŸ˜€

Other than that I did get a few new books in the mail again.

  • The Kindred by Alechia Dow
  • Defy the Night by Brigid Kemmerer
  • Ariadne by Jennifer Saint (I bought the UK version because just look at that stunning cover!)

Not sure if I’ll be reading this week or not. Have had a bad mental health state over the weekend and now I’m behind in chores and I’m also scheduled to have my covid booster shot tomorrow evening. Despite feeling slightly less stressed over the last week, I somehow feel stressed?? I think it’s just some stress that caught up with me because I was on the verge of burnout again. Thanks to my therapist for pointing that out.

Anywho. I am working on my year end reading stats post and hope to have that up very soon. Two posts in one week! Is this a comeback? Guess we’ll see. Happy reading, all!

Nice to see your posts again! I hope the stress eases for you soon ❀ I just read your thread and your reactions gave me life! Too funny πŸ˜‚ I’m half tempted to read the book for myself just to see all the bits you’ve pointed out but also, it slightly terrifies me? Haha.
