Halloween Highlights: The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones

Seamlessly blending classic horror and a dramatic narrative with sharp social commentary, The Only Good Indians follows four American Indian men after a disturbing event from their youth puts them in a desperate struggle for their lives. Tracked by an entity bent on revenge, these childhood friends are helpless as the culture and traditions they left behind catch up to them in a violent, vengeful way.

The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones came out earlier this year and it really caught my interest even though I don’t read a ton of horror novels these days. Tammy @ Book, Bones, and Buffy has a fantastic review for it if you’re thinking about checking this book out, take a look to see her thoughts on it, she quite liked this one! Hopefully I’ll get to this one sometime in the near future because it sounds like an amazing read.

I’m definitely intrigued by the plot and also something about the cover and title that really attracts me, but it also sounds pretty terrifying 😂 So I’m undecided. Looking forward to hearing what you think of it though. Hope you enjoy it!

I ended up really enjoying The Only Good Indians. The style is really odd and takes some getting used to, but if you just lean into it without trying to work everything out straight away it’s very rewarding and quite an impressive book. Also creepy af 😱

I don’t read horror – I’ve only read two books and one of them was a graphic novel – but I’ve been hearing about this one a lot lately and I love the cover too, so it just makes me want to check it out lol.
