The Sunday Post #35

thesundaypost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Random News And Goings-On

Not much has been going on lately. I keep going from periods of great productivity to feeling overwhelmed with blah and not feeling like doing anything. I haven’t worked anymore on my embroidery project. I’ve been reading but it’s all very much mood reading still–even more webtoons and some romances. My husband and I watched the new show on Netflix–Floor is Lava. That was fun. I like inane competition shows like that. We also watched the new show called Don’t which was also fun–mostly because Ryan Reynolds narrates it and he’s hilarious. I’ve also picked up watching season 2 of Outlander again. This is a show I can not binge for some reason so I keep watching it in small doses over….years LOL. I’ll be so excited when I finally get to season 3! 😀

Next week will be our last week of partial work from home, starting the week of the 29th my boss is having the entire staff return to the office full time. I’ve known this was coming for a while I’m just kind of ‘whatever’ about it but it’s also super annoying because my boss is already becoming complacent about things and I’ve noticed him standing way too close and not having a mask on. Sigh.

This coming Friday my husband and I took off work and we’re going to drive down to the beach for the day, hopefully get there early in the morning to avoid any crowd. I’m excited because I love the ocean and we don’t go all that often (it’s about a three hour drive there). I don’t plan on being too close to any people because I’m still very much in social distance mode even if others seem to be getting more lax about things.

New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy

Ebooks

I went a little crazy with ebooks recently. To be fair, a couple of these were pre-orders and almost all the rest of them were on sale–sales are so hard to pass on. That’s how they get me haha.

  • The Book of Koli by M.R. Carey – Orbit sale woot!
  • The Girl Who Could Move Sh*t with Her Mind by Jackson Ford – Orbit sale woot!
  • Garters and Gargoyles by Nancy Warren (pre-order came in, woot–and I already read this since it came in lol.)
  • A Ghostly Request by Krista D. Ball (my other pre-order came in!)
  • Chilling Effect by Valerie Valdes – this was on sale, couldn’t resist
  • Fake Out by Eden Finley (have also read this one since buying)
  • Hither Page by Cat Sebastian (read since buying–I’m in a romance mood!)

Audiobooks

Only one new ebook but I’ll probably have more next time as my audible credits are going to be coming in again soon.

bonds of brass

  • Bonds of Brass by Emily Skruskie – my friends have been going on about this one so I really wanted to check it out.

And that’s the news for this week, see you next time!

Ooh have fun at the beach! I live about an hour from our beaches but we never go, for some reason. Good luck at work, I know how stressful it is! And I loved both The Book of Koli and The Girl Who Could Move Sh*t so enjoy!

We actually have closer beaches here–being near rivers that feed into the Chesapeake there are some that are about 20 mins and then the Chesapeake is about 45 mins away but nothing beats the ocean! I’m not a HUGE beach person myself but I try to go once a year to just relax in the sun with a book and dip in and out of the water once in a while. There’s something nostalgic about the feel of sand between my toes. 🙂
Thanks, Tammy! Work wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for normal work drama being extra and my boss keeping to ‘forget’ to put his mask on. Ugh.
I remember your reviews which made picking them up an easy choice for me. 🙂

I hope your time at the beach will be relaxing. I feel the need to do something similar, to get away to somewhere new.
I believe that, unfortunately, more people will be like your boss as businesses reopen. I’m not looking forward to it.

    • waytoofantasy says:

Yeah, I just need to have a relaxing day somewhere to forget about things for a minute. I think that will help with self-care. You should do it! Find your relaxing thing and go do it. ❤
Yeah, I think so too, unfortunately. 😦

Part of me feels like I’m ready to go back into “social mode” but the bigger part feels like I want to keep social distancing forever? 🤣 I totally get what you mean with the spurts of productivity and then feeling overwhelmed and blah and not doing anything. I’ve been going through those phases a lot in recent weeks. I hope you enjoy your trip to the beach though! Sounds fun 😀

    • waytoofantasy says:

Yeah, I totally get that. I’m an introvert by nature and while there are plenty of things I want to go out and do I’ve also been really happy to have an excuse not to do so many obligated social events this summer so far….

Thanks! May we both have productive weeks ahead. 🙂

It’s driving me crazy, everyone who’s suddenly just decided the pandemic is over. Like, no? Still very much going on, and getting worse again? My boss not only doesn’t wear a mask, but she stands way too close and makes fun of me for wearing one, so it’s a super fun situation. I hope your beach day is going to be low stress and super fun!

    • waytoofantasy says:

Yeah exactly. UGH to people who don’t wear masks. Like…it’s just common sense? And it doesn’t hurt you? So just do it already and quit complaining? People! That sucks that she makes fun of you. I guess she won’t laugh if she catches the virus. Sigh.
Thanks! I’m hoping it’s a nice and peaceful day. 🙂

Hope you have a great time at the beach. We’re still very much into social distancing – too worried about letting our guard down and there being a spike. I think for now I’d sooner just err on the side of caution.
    Lynn 😀

Thanks, it was a nice time, everyone was keeping their distance on the beach and when we stopped for lunch it was outside on a restaurant on the docks made up of boats and we had an entire boat to ourselves most of the time we were there so it wasn’t hard at all to keep our distance from others. I was so worried it would be too crowded.
