Princess Sun has finally come of age.
Growing up in the shadow of her mother, Eirene, has been no easy task. The legendary queen-marshal did what everyone thought impossible: expel the invaders and build Chaonia into a magnificent republic, one to be respected—and feared.
But the cutthroat ambassador corps and conniving noble houses have never ceased to scheme—and they have plans that need Sun to be removed as heir, or better yet, dead.
To survive, the princess must rely on her wits and companions: her biggest rival, her secret lover, and a dangerous prisoner of war.
Take the brilliance and cunning courage of Princess Leia—add in a dazzling futuristic setting where pop culture and propaganda are one and the same—and hold on tight:
This is the space opera you’ve been waiting for.
I have been waiting for this book for what seems like forever, ever since Kate Elliott mentioned working on it on twitter. This is one of the very few books that I’m allowing myself to break my book buying ban for this year. I need this gender swapped Alexander the Great in Space like I need oxygen. Unconquerable Sun is expected July 7th, 2020 from Tor.
You had me at “gender swapped Alexander the Great in Space”. Sold! 🙂
Honestly that’s how I was sold on it too LOL. 🙂
I cannot wait for this either! And I’ve never read Kate Elliot so hopefully this will be my first😁
Oh, I think we’re both in for a treat then, I really love Kate’s work. Her world-building is especially superb. 🙂
Was this one delayed? I feel like I’ve seen it kicking around for awhile- could have sworn it was already out. Anyway- gender swapped Alexander the Great in space does sound Fantastic!!
Still coming out this Summer! Just signed Kate up for an AMA on r/fantasy sometime around the release date. I know for me at least it feels like a long time because I’ve been excited about this since she announced she started writing it on Twitter lol. I’m soooooo excited for it!
I hope it lives up to your expectations then! I just saw Tammy at Books Bones and Buffy has a copy and boy does it look THICK!
Yeah, Kate writes epics so they can get pretty big. 🙂
I’d like to check this out too, but I was also hoping she’d continue her Black Wolves series!
Me too! I think there may have been an issue between her and her publisher for book 2, it’s still in limbo but honestly from rumors I’ve heard it may not be published.
Oooh, I hadn’t heard of this one! But you had me at cutthroat ambassador. I’m not a huge fan of space operas, but this sounds like one I could get into!
I have a feeling it will have a lot more of a feel of an epic fantasy than a typical space opera, going by Kate’s writing. I’m excited for it!
