Oasis Natrun: a private, exclusive, highly secret luxury health spa for mummies, high in the hills above Marseille, equipped with the very latest in therapeutic innovations both magical and medical. To Dr. Greta Helsing, London’s de facto mummy specialist, it sounds like paradise. But when Greta is invited to spend four months there as the interim clinical director, it isn’t long before she finds herself faced with a medical mystery that will take all her diagnostic skill to solve.
A peculiar complaint is spreading among her mummy patients, one she’s never seen before. With help from her friends and colleagues — including Dr. Faust (yes, that Dr. Faust), remedial psychopomps, a sleepy scribe-god, witches, demons, a British Museum curator, and the inimitable vampyre Sir Francis Varney — Greta must put a stop to this mysterious illness before anybody else crumbles to irreparable dust…
…and before the fabric of reality itself can undergo any more structural damage.
I can’t even fully explain how excited I am for this book! I absolutely loved the first two books in the series. Such a fun urban fantasy with lovely characters full of charm and hopefulness, despite living in rather dark world. Luckily for me the release date is just around the corner, phew! Grave Importance comes out August 20th from Orbit.
I’m so behind, I still haven’t read the second book. One of these days I’ll catch up, I really had fun with the first one!
I hope you get a chance to catch up some time, the sequel was really fun too!
Now this does sound interesting! I love the quirky sound of it- and for a minute there I thought Dr. Greta Helsing was a Van Helsing, til I read closer. I was almost thinking THAT connection as well haha!
I think she may be descended from the family but they removed ‘Van’ from the name at some point, iirc. They are fun books!
Wow yes, I need to read this! For some reason I thought the release date was much farther off, like in the fall…glad that it’ll be available in August!
I think the last one may have come out in the fall? I’m excited that it’s coming out soon, can’t wait!
I need to start this series – I think it’s something that would really suit my reading tastes but I’ve been a bit over scheduled so trying to behave.
Lynn 😀
Totally get that. Hope you get the chance sometime, it’s a really fun series!
