Favorite Five YA Fantasy Novels
Sorry this is late again, been dealing with a lot of stuff this week, again. I’ll be so happy when things settle down a bit and get back to normal around here. 😀
Ok, so this list was a tough one to make because I do read a good amount of YA and it’s just tough to choose favorites! So here are some I love.
- The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi
I pretty much love everything about this book from the story itself to the prose. If you like myths or fairytales, I’d recommend trying this one out because it very much reads like one.
- Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Ok, so I really fell in love with this duology. I definitely love the second book a lot better than the first (I thought the heist stuff was so much better in book 2) but the characters are so much fun and the world is interesting and a bit different from a lot of other things out there.
- Red Rising by Pierce Brown
Red Rising is an amazing crazy ride from start to finish. Highly recommend the audio if you’re into audio books at all because the narrator does such a fabulous job with these books.
- The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
This is another series that’s great in audio book format. Again, the characters here make this series for me, but I also loved the prose and the rather dream-like quality of some of the storytelling.
- The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee
This book made me laugh, it made me cry, and it took me on quite the journey. Sure there were some things that could have been done a little better (that throw-away fantasy sub-plot) but overall, this was such a great read for me and I loved it.
Wow, that was tough. I probably could have made a list of thirty books or more for this one. But that’s my list for this week! What are some of your favorite YA Fantasy novels? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to hear from you!
Great list! I haven’t read The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue but I love the others.
Thanks! It’s a fun book!
Wonderful list here and all on my list. Come hell or high water, I’m reading Six of Crows this year! Glad you loved them all. 😁
Hope you enjoy it!
YASS Six of Crows is incredible!! Also The Raven Boys. I’ve been on the fence about Red Rising for a while now, but I may just have to check it out now😄
I really found Red Rising an engaging story. 🙂
Ooh yay! I’ll definitely have to check it out then😄
I loved Red Rising, but Six of Crows was a huge miss for me 😀
Admittedly I do like the second book a lot more than the first one. Lol
I love Six of Crows. I’ve tried reading The Raven Boys twice and put it down each time, but I still have the urge to keep trying? I think I just so badly want to love it like everyone else does–maybe one day it will click, haha. The Star-Touched Queen is one I’m really interested in.
I know what you mean because I do that too. Everyone I know loves Lord of the Rings and it took me forever to get through it, kept trying and getting bored by it. It happens, not every book is a fit for every reader and sometimes timing is a factor too. 🙂
I absolutely love A Gentleman’s Guide!! 💗
It’s such a fun book
Star Touched Queen and Six of Crows are on my list! One day soon……
Hope you enjoy them when you get to them!
I loved Red Rising and Six of Crows. I should check out the Gentleman’s Guide.
Lynn 😀
It was not without its flaws but I really loved it. 🙂
I enjoyed the Raven Boys series for how atmospheric it is. I whisked through that one. All the others are on my TBR. Hoping to get to them eventually.
Yes, soooooo atmospheric!
I feel so incredibly sad that I DNF’d Six of Crows, it is beloved by almost everyone I know in the book blogging world *melodramatic crying* I think I need to try Gentleman’s Guide, though!
To be fair, I did like the second book in the series a lot more than the first. Also, I listened to the audio of Six of Crows which was pretty fun.
Hmm… maybe I will try the SoC audio….
It has a different narrator for each POV character, which I enjoyed.
Hmm… yes. I might give it a try because I have a spare audible credit. Thank you!
You can always check out a sample first too. 🙂
True! Or just return it when/if I inevitably DNF the book for a third time. LOL
I always forget that I can do that! Good luck with it. 🙂
Thank you!
Thanks, starting reading Raven Boys, it’s great. Nice Post!
Glad you’re enjoying it!
I adore six of crows, raven boys and red rising! Wonderful list!!
Thanks ❤
So many great books to check out! I saw Red Rising and thought about getting it, but I hadn’t heard any reviews from it and decoded to get another instead. I may have to go back and get it now.
I really loved it. And the first one is a bit different from how the rest of the series goes but the tone carries through. It’s a fantastic series.
That’s great!
