Favorite Five Fantasy Related Songs

Ok, I really don’t know what I was thinking with this topic! It seemed like a good idea at the time, haha. At first it was hard for me to think of songs and then the floodgates opened (thank goodness for movies!). So, here’s a few of my favorites, enjoy!

  • ‘Ramble On’ by Led Zeppelin

This is probably such an obvious choice as it’s well-known (I think?) that Zep reference’s Tolkien quite a bit. There’s even a song by them called ‘The Battle of Evermore’ so…yeah.

  • ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’ by Queen

Ok, this is ALSO an obvious choice being from the Highlander soundtrack. Honestly, I could just make this list ‘Five Favorite Fantasy Related Songs by Queen’ because they have so many and I love Queen. Queen!!!

  • ‘The NeverEnding Story’ by Limahl

Alright, look, I do like the movie (even though, having read the actual book now, I’m like ‘what is this????? why did they change so much????’). But I LOVE this song. It’s everything about the 80’s that I love from my childhood. ❤

  • ‘Over the Rainbow’ by Eva Cassidy

So, obviously this song is much older, and was famously sung by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz, but I just love Eva Cassidy’s version so much. Honestly, I just love Eva Cassidy.

  • ‘Storybook Love’ by Willy DeVille and Mark Knopfler

I’m a huge fan of The Princess Bride and Mark Knopfler (of Dire Straights fame) did an amazing job on the score/soundtrack for that film. This song performed by Willy DeVille was at the end of the movie and it’s such a lovely note to end the story with.

That’s my five for this week! Phew! What are some of your favorite fantasy related songs? Leave me a note in the comments, I’d love to hear from you!

And now I have the Queen song in my head – which is good and bad – because I like the song but I’m really bad at lyrics so it’s driving me mad – and I also want to watch Highlander – but these books ain’t going to read themselves now are they. I suppose a film on in the background couldn’t really hurt….
