The bold new anthology from the acclaimed editors of The Djinn Falls in Love and Other Stories
We live our lives in the daylight. Our stories take place under the sun: bright, clear, unafraid.
This is not a book of those stories.
These are the stories of people who live at night; under neon and starlight, and never the light of day.
These are the stories of poets and police; writers and waiters; gamers and goddesses; tourists and traders; the hidden and the forbidden; the lonely and the lovers.
These are their lives. These are their stories. And this is their time:
The Outcast Hours.
Including new stories by Marina Warner, China Miéville, Frances Hardinge, Will Hill, Sally Partridge, Jesse Bullington, Jeffrey Alan Love, Kuzhali Manickavel, Amira Salah-Ahmed, Cecilia Ekbäck, Celeste Baker, Karen Onojaife, Daniel Polansky, Genevieve Valentine, Indrapramit Das, Leah Moore, Sam Beckbessinger, Sami Shah, Lauren Beukes, Dale Halvorsen, Yukimi Ogawa, Lavie Tidhar, Silvia Moreno Garcia, Genevieve Valentine, Maha Khan Phillips, William Boyle, S.L. Grey, M. Suddain and Omar Robert Hamilton.
I’m kind of a sucker for anthologies, despite the fact that I hardly ever get around to reading all the shorts in them. (Yeah, I’m weird, I know.) Anyway, really loved the first anthology put together by them so I’m super excited for this new one! The Outcast Hours is set to be released on February 19th, 2019 from Solaris.
Oh wow, this sounds cool. And what a great line up of writers! Thanks for sharing 😊
I’m excited for it! Jared and Mahvesh are great editors. Their last one was nominated for the WFA!
I really suck at reading anthologies, for some reason I tend to always pick novels over them even though the shorter stories are easier to fit in. This one does sound really good though
I think short stories are very hit or miss but when they hit they’re so impactful. I go into every anthology fully expecting not to connect with every story in it but at least shorts are a….shorter time investment haha. 🙂
I’m not big on anthologies, but wow, I see some big names there whose stories I am quite curious about 😀
It should be interesting!
Oh, this does sound a little quirky and super fun, and yes, that list of authors- wowza! I hope you enjoy it!
Thank you! I’m sure I’ll find a few stories in it that I love. 😀
I should be receiving an ARC of this at some point this month and I am SUPER excited. I reviewed The Djinn Falls in Love a few months ago and I’m a huge fan of Rebellion Publishing’s anthologies, they’re always so amazing. Plus, the cover for this is (Y)
Oooh, excited for you! Hope you enjoy it, looking forward to your thoughts!
I have an ARC of this one and I cannot wait to dive in, the lineup of authors is amazing! 😀
Yeah, the line up is crazy good. Hope you enjoy!
Yeah, me and anthologies, it’s just not destined to be. But this sounds great so I hope you enjoy it.
Lynn 😀
Thanks! They can be very hit or miss and not everyone enjoys short fiction so I totally get it. 🙂
