#NaNoWriMo Update – 11/16/2018

NaNo-2018-Writer-Twitter-Header

Well, ok, so I got started really late with my writing project. I spent the beginning of the week recovering a bit from socializing over the weekend and didn’t really buckle down to write until Thursday night. Whoops!

I’m not focusing on being ‘behind’ or even word count. My only goal is to work on this one story idea and whatever length it ends up being to tell the tale, so be it. So I guess that makes me a NaNo rebel this year. And I’m totally okay with that.

The idea that I’m working with this year is an old one. Years ago I had a dream that I remembered part of upon waking–a girl running through the woods, being chased by someone, falling and the fae folk inviting her to enter their realm, offering her a hiding place, and escape. And so that’s the root of it, and I’m working with that idea and building on it. There are a lot of different directions I could take, and I’ve tried before (over complicating the plot because that’s what I do), so I’m taking a different approach this time. So far, I think I’ve got a good thing going but we’ll see what happens.

I don’t have a ton of words yet, but, like I said, it’s less about word count for me this year. We’ll see how things go from here. Hopefully can get a lot of writing done on Saturday. 🙂

For everyone else doing NaNo, how is your project coming? Happy writing!

  1. @lynnsbooks says:

I used to have a dream that was similar and recurrent. Running through a forest, as a young girl, with my parents holding hands either side, then they were gone and I was on my own still running scared. No idea how that one ends!
    Good luck with your story.
