Buffy the Vampire Slayer Book Tag

I was poking around looking for vampire themed book tags and I happened across this one from a while back over at The Mermaid Behind the Books.

Rules:

  1. You must ping me back to Tea With Rose’s Tomes  so she can read all of the tags.
  2. Answer the below questions with a fictional character & the book they are from.
  3. Have fun with it!
  4. Of course, spread the love & tag it up!

The Tag:

(I didn’t include all the gifs with this because I’m lazy but there are fun gifs on the original!)

Buffy Summers: The Chosen One | Choose a fictional character that carries the wait of the world on their shoulders.

I don’t know why this one was so hard for me to figure out when I read so much fantasy and chosen one is one of the major tropes of the genre. And yet here we are lol. Oh, here were go. Fallon Swift in Nora Roberts’ Chronicles of the One is LITERALLY the chosen one the series is titled after. 🙂

Xander Harris: The heart of the group but got jokes | Choose a fictional character that helps whenever needed at no matter the cost and has a sense of humor.

Oh, that’s gotta be Carwyn from Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental Mysteries series. I LOVE this series, such an addictive vampire series and Carwyn is such a fun character. He’s definitely got jokes and brings a lot of life and levity to the books.

Willow Rosenburg: The powerful witch | Choose a fictional character that doesn’t know how powerful she truly is.

Hmm, thinking of witches especially, probably Lucy from Nancy Warren’s Vampire Knitting Club cozy mystery series. She’s a much more powerful witch than she thinks she is, she just has to concentrate on her studies (admittedly hard to do when she runs a shop and solves murders on the side).

Rupert Giles: The Watcher | A fictional character that is like a father figure and watches over you.

Hmmm, maybe Sanabalis in The Chronicles of Elantra by Michelle Sagara. Although, to be fair, a lot of characters would qualify for that role in that particular series as Kaylin seems to have amassed a bunch of people who look out for her, but Sanabalis is actually her mentor.

Cordelia Chase: The Popular One | A fictional character that shows tremendous character growth throughout a book/ series.

I’m going with Amalia from Melissa Caruso’s Swords and Fire trilogy. I loooooved her growth throughout the series. She goes through some stuff and learns from it and how to be the best person she can while also that not every decision is going to be ‘good’ or ‘just’ but that those decisions still have to be made. You watch her go from someone concerned with dances and such to someone who is fit to help run an empire. Highly satisfying series, can’t recommend it enough.

Angel/Angelus: The Dark & Brooding Guy | A character that has an evil side within him.

For some reason it was taking me forever to think of someone for this prompt but! Then I remembered the Shadow of the Fox series by Julie Kagawa and Tatsumi! He is the perfectly brooding character with an evil side within him (literally because of the whole soul sword thing).

Spike aka William the Bloody: The irresistible bad guy | A character that is a villain but is a big softy when it comes to love.

Oh, off the top of my head, probably Cardan from The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. Gosh, I do love a jerk sometimes. (Only in fiction!)

Tara: The precious cinnamon roll | A character that is LGBTQ+

Oooh, a character that is both a cinnamon roll and LGBTQ+, my mind immediately goes to Ox from Wolfsong by TJ Klune. Actually probably Joe too. They’re both kind of too precious for this world? Gosh I love that book, I should probably reread it.

Anya: The newly human, and doesn’t understand humans. | A character that isn’t use to being human.

Oh well this is easy because I’ve been reading The Others series by Anne Bishop and the terra indigene in that series are very much earth natives that are trying to learn more about being human and being around humans, etc. So, really, all the terra indigene!

Dawn Summers: The annoying little sister. | A character you found very annoying.

Lissa in Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. Well, even Rose is kind of annoying at times but Lissa always bothers me because, quite frankly, I can’t see what Rose gets out of their friendship? It feels like it’s all give and no take and Lissa just annoys me for some reason.

Faith: The other chosen one that is the black sheep, but is STILL a badass!| A character you love to hate.

Okay well this might also be Rose from Vampire Academy! Honestly, I can kind of see her as a Faith type of character now that I think about it.

That’s it for this tag! As usual, not going to tag anyone, but if you like this one then consider yourself tagged!

Lol at your answers to the last two. I also wondered what Rose got out of the relationship, but I didn’t like the relationship anyway because Rose could tell Lissa’s thoughts and emotions but the connection didn’t work in reverse. It just seemed kind of one-sided to me.
I gotta do this tag too, btw. 🙂
