I saw this one over at Another Book in the Wall and thought it was such a fun tag, especially for October, so couldn’t pass it up. This book tag was originally created a few years ago by Katytastic. Talk about a book featuring the creatures listed, wee!
Interview With the Vampire by Anne Rice – it’s a classic! I was kind of obsessed with these books back in the day, before they got kind of formulaic. And as for the new ones coming out, well, at least you can’t say they’re formulaic anymore!
Roadkill by Rob Thurman – Ah, I used to be completely in love with this series. It took a turn for the weird at one point but I stuck with it and then book 10 came out and I still haven’t read it because it’s the last one and I heard it ends on a cliffhanger. But, the reason this one is on here is I love the werewolf stuff in this volume in particular, especially between the two werewolf cousins.
The Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey – I love this book so much! This was one I binge read in a single day and I cried reading it near the beginning. I always empathize so much with characters that have a yearning to be loved.
Stardust of Yesterday by Lynn Kurland – Ok, so this one is a romance novel, but the main dude in it is a ghost so it counts. Lynn Kurland was one of the first romance authors that I glomped onto back in the day and I love her books. She writes a lot with ghosts/time travel through fairy rings, etc. Her male characters do tend to be very alpha male which is something I find myself avoiding these days in romances, but I still love these books.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling – I mean, this one has also become a classic. I still remember how magical it was the first time I read the first HP book, even though I was probably way too old for it. These books remain popular for a reason!
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas – The first couple of books in this one were a bit meh for me but I kept reading them because they were like candy. Eventually a huge epic story unfolds and it got really fun. These books are a bit addictive. 🙂
Dark Light of Day by Jill Archer – I’m a fan of this series. It takes place far in the future post apocalypse. Demons now roam as it’s become literal hell on earth. There are angels as well, but there is a sort of truce. Humans remain caught in the middle. But demons are strictly regulated so if they are caught violating laws they can be taken down. I like the way this series blends the whole post-Armageddon thing with law school…so much fun.
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett – This is one of my favorite books of all time. It’s just so much fun. An angel and demon teaming up to stop the end of the world? And it’s just so cleverly done. I’m really looking forward to the series!
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers – This entire series is so very lovely. I like to call them warm hugs from space. They’re just about people being people and what it means to be people and caring about one another. I mean, other stuff happens, but these books always leave me feeling
Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews – Ok so I had a hard time picking something for this one and I don’t know if Kate Daniels exactly counts as human but close enough, lol. Sure she’s the daughter of an ancient bloodline of magic users, but even though they have powers, vast powers, they’re still kind of human?
As per usual, won’t be tagging anyone, but if you want to fill this one out, consider yourself tagged. 🙂
