Well, this week’s going to be a bit eclectic!
Finishing up two books from last week. I’m about a third of the way through A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir. I somehow forgot the incredibly weird turn the story took in the second book. I might have to go back and re-listen to that one at some point because I remember things, but clearly I don’t remember everything. But, anyway, yes, weirdness. There’s a LOT more fantasy in this book compared to the first in the series. Enjoying this so far, despite some of my confusion, haha.
I just started The Seat of Magic by J. Kathleen Cheney so I don’t have many thoughts on it yet. (Starless wound up taking me a while to read, it’s such a thick book!) As it’s J. Kathleen Cheney I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, I really love they way she mixes mystery, fantasy and romance in her works. Also, selkies and sirens, woot!
Next up I have a book request that came my way via the TBRindr project. I Was a Teenage Weredeer by C. T. Phipps. I really do not know much about this one but a fellow reviewer friend read it and found it a lot of fun and since we share some similar tastes I thought it would be a nice fit for me. I feel like, from the description, there may be a lot of puns in this book and I’m really hoping I’m right about that.
And finally, I’ll be starting my first LitRPG book, Forever Fantasy Online by Rachel Aaron and Travis Bach. I’m a huge fan of Rachel Aaron’s Heartstriker books, and I’m hoping to enjoy this one as well. I’m not sure how I feel about LitRPG as a concept, but we’ll see how it goes!
So, if everything goes well I should be able to get through all of these but we’ll see. I do have some extracurricular activities planned two nights this week and my job (where I get a lot of my audiobook listening in) is changing a bit starting this week so I’ll have to see how things go and adjust accordingly. 🙂 What is everyone else reading this week? Leave a message in the comments, I’d love to hear from you!
